Patrick Walsh’s article The Lean Intranet: from Intranet Zero to Intranet 2.0 and beyond (Part One: Intranet Zero) recently published on FUMSI.com describes the “intranet zero” - intranets as they exist today - and the misconceptions held about them including:

  • Transactions
  • Information/Content
  • One size fits all
  • Everyone can produce and edit content
  • Intranets will magically remove information silos
  • All intranet information must be visible all of the time
  • The user can find stuff by herself
  • Intranets are not as important as Internets

Part two will cover the ‘lean intranet’ approach can assist in achieving a robust, well managed intranet 1.0.

The third article will look at how we can build on the foundations of intranet 1.0 to achieve intranet 2.0 and beyond
